The Danish League 2009/10

Postby I.L.T. » Fri Jul 03, 2009 10:12 am

GOG have been having financially problems this year, and because of the insecurity many players have left the club, but now they have found a solution the club will team up with another club near by Odense håndbold.(Odense are the large city, GOG is 3 very small cities if you cane even call them that :-).

The coach will be Swedish national coach Ulf Schefvert.

There are still not information about home ground, name etc. as far as I know.

It will also be exiting to hear if there is money available for signing new players, according to the manager of GOG quality players are cheaper then ever this year, so he might be looking

Think I will go for something possitive here - Handball is just a great sport!

The first teams already seem to have completed their squads for the 2009/2010 season, so here is an overview:

Viborg HK:
Kristine Lunde, Center
Chao Zhai, Center
Bojana Popovic, Leftback
Rikke Skov, Leftback
Gorica Acimovic, Back
Grit Jurack, Rightback
Henriette Mikkelsen, Leftwing
Gitte Aaen, Leftwing
Cristina Varzaru, Rightwing
Monika Kovacsicz, Rightwing
Nora Reiche, Rightwing
Lene Lund Nielsen, Pivot
Anja Althaus, Pivot
Katrine Lunde Haraldsen, Keeper
Louise Bager Due, Keeper

Joining:Gorica Acimovic(Hypo)
Leaving:Ida Bjørndalen(KIF Vejen), Maria Fisker(Randers HK), Karen Smidt(?), Ann Grethe Nørgaard(Horsens HK)

Pretty much status quo in strength(which means VERY good) although Acimovic is a clear reinforcement and very useable on both back positions especially while Popovic is out. I actually thought Zhai would retire, but she is still on the list of players on their website. And also, have the Lunde-twins actually signed a new contract yet? I´m not sure..

Randers HK
Berit Kristensen, Center
Nina Wörz, Center
Katrine Fruelund, Leftback
Jelena Eric, Leftback
Dzenita Bajic, Leftback
Camilla Dalby, Rightback
Mie Augustesen, Leftwing
Maria Fisker, Leftwing
Gitte Andersen, Rightwing
Simone Kristensen, Rightwing
Alessandra Medeiros, Pivot
Tatiana Silitch, Pivot
Chana Masson, Keeper
Stine Bonde Aagaard, Keeper

Joining: Jelena Eric(KIF Vejen), Maria Fisker (Viborg HK), Alessandra Medeiros(Itxako)
Leaving: Terese Pedersen(Hypo), Christina Krogshede (FCK), Bernadett Bodi (Békéscsaba), Szabina Tapai(?), Mia Falk(retire), Louise Simonsen(pregnancy)

I think that Randers will be a bit stronger this season, because Eric and Medeiros will provide the necessesary physique to the team and the players they say goodbye to won´t be missed that much except Therese Pedersen. But this is a team I will cheer for due to the many Danish talents.

SK Århus:
Camilla Transel, Center
Trine Troelsen, Leftback
Iwona Cecotka, Leftback
Anna-Sophie Okkels, Leftback
Im-Jeong Choi, Rightback
Stine Frandsen, Rightback
Gitte Brøgger Led, Leftwing
Sanne Bak-Pedersen, Leftwing
Maibritt Kviesgaard, Rightwing
Camilla Mikkelsen, Rightwing
Ane Brustuen, Pivot
Thilde Mathiasen, Pivot
Karin Mortensen, Keeper
Rikke Poulsen, Keeper

Joining: Ane Brustuen(Horsens HK), Maibritt Kviesgaard(GOG), Thilde Mathiasen(FOX), Stine Frandsen(Ydun), Camilla Mikkelsen(Viborg)
Leaving: Josephine Touray(retire), Soon-Young Huh(Hypo), Tatjana Medved(Serbia), Tove Seest(Tvis Holstebro), Lena Jensen(?)

Of course Touray will be missed greatly, but Brustuen is a decent replacement for Huh and it will be interesting to follow the new young lefthanders. Hopefully Okkels will really shine as center and leftback.

Interesting views:

Viborg:
Looking so strong again, conserning Popovic she were very possitive about here return when asked by the end of last season, so she might be ready early this season, on the web site they write by the end of 2009.

Randers:
Is really looking forward to seeing Eric, strange what happened to here last year and just a bed excuse from here when she said that here role had changed and that she had to help the other players and not go for here own shots. My guess is that it was mentally... I do not belive the brasilian line player will be first choise, but mabye she will play much in the defence.

Århus:
Looking better then i tought when it looked like Cecotka and choi were leaving as well. Will be interesting to see if Okkels can continue here great play, and I am also a huge fan of Thilde Mathiasen.
Think I will go for something possitive here - Handball is just a great sport!

FC Midtjylland Håndbold 2009/2010

1.Ingrid Ødegård (Keeper)
2.Alette Stang (Right Wing)
4.Tonje Nøstvold (Right back)
5.Isabel Blanco (Pivot)
6.Mette Sjøberg (Left Back)
9.Sara Hansen (All-round)
10.Line Widt Fruensgaard (Left Wing)
11.Gro Hammerseng (Playmaker)
14.Malene Dalgaard (Left Wing)
15.Katja Nyberg (Left Back)
16.Sabine Englert (Keeper)
17.Susan Thorsgaard (Pivot)
18.Mia Møldrup (Right back/Wing)
19.Cecilie Woller (Playmaker)
21.Fie Woller (Left Wing/Back)
22.Mia Biltoft (Pivot)
23.Anne Mette Pedersen (Right Wing)
24.Maria Sørensen (Left Back)
25.Trine Østergaard Jensen (Right Wing)
89.Lærke Møller (Playmaker)

A squad with many young talents - i look forward to see especially Anne Mette Pedersen and Fie Woller as the biggest talents :D

The blue ones, might be the first line-up with Hammerseng as Left back, undtill Nyberg is back from injury. Sjøberg could also be first on Left back, but she is too unstable though 8-[

I see Viborgs Squad looks stronger and very good. But there is 10 foreigners in the squad and only 5 Danes  ](*,)

Viborg is the club with most foreign players...

Viborg HK 10
Aalborg DH 9 (6 from Sweeden)
FCK 8
KIF/Vejen 8
Team Esbjerg 8
FCM 7 (6 from Norway)
Randers HK 5
GOG/Odense 5 (4 from Sweeden)
Horsens Hk 4
SK Århus 3
Team Tvis Hosltebro 2
SønderjyskE 1

Sounds reasonable enough. There are that not many Danish players around with sufficient quality to strengthen a squad of that caliber anyway.

As far as I have heard she will be ready to september... I remember Kenneth Jensen saying that - and also that she has to be crucial role from the beginning!!

Well... about Sabine Englert, the way they have made her knee surgery in Austria is different to the way it is done in Denmark, therefore her knee is a small mystery for the danish doctors, and it is uncertain when she is able to play... but they hope it will be in 1-2 months

Wow, surprise. Congratulations to her.

Viborg was lucky to buy Aćimović, who is also top-class right back. Although, on the other hand, they managed to win CL in previous season without one key player like Popović.

No - impossible is nothing ;)

In fact, no one knows how Germany will play. Not even the germans. So, at least no one knows which weapons will be effectful, if Krause and Jurack stay away.

It really belongs to another topic, but here we go. ;)
I got Germany in top 4 with Norway, Russia and Romania for this WC. I also saw some nice German playing in the play-offs against Serbia. Germany without Jurack (like EC2008 3'place game) hasn't been any good so far. New German NT coach and adequate time to prepare --oh-no I wouldn't say impossible (Meteo) :) , but a great possibility to shine. And maybe the German NT also are prepared, like Viborg. 8:)
But for youngsters a hard task.
Why should Krause not be back :?:

Germany are the Junior World Champions from last year in Macedonia, so with Krause and Jurack out, some other 2-4 players might get the chance to make it for the final squad. It should be interesting.
Germany is about fighting spirit, not about one player. There were times when Jurack was perfectly anichilated and the team still won. Romania should know better.
