The sad thing, in my opinion, is that this is not a result of handball gaining more interest and thereby higher quality players everywhere, but the danish transfer market that seems to eat of clubs from foreign countries.

I just hope these clubs have good talent departments, like volgograd and lada, otherwise I'm afraid it'll in the the long run damage the sport.

[/quote]

I can follow you on KIF and Viborg, but Randers? They have many danish profiles: Dalby, Fruelund, B. Kristensen and Augustesen, next season they will have Okkels as well and all you hear is how their succes is due to them having changed their economical strategies and developed young danish players themselves. Of course they have the brazilians, Wörz and Eric, but Eric hasn't really been very reliable and Wörz has played better than in the last few matches I've seen. Of course they still have more foreign players than many foreign teams, but in all fairness things seem to be going in the right direction in Randers. At least I don't really see them fitting in very well here... Also, even Viborg say they are going for a more "danish" profile. They've signed with C. Pedersen, will get Due back and they also tried out for Okkels, but she didn't want to go there.

The "redanishing" is just a question of missing money at most of the clubs.

I don't think it's a matter of nationality. I wouldn't mind if danes played in Spain, Russians, in Denmark, etc.

I think the problem is in an emptyning of the market. Moving all best players towards one spot will in general lower the quality and competition overall everywhere else.

It is good some clubs can resist this, but these are rather few (look at the EHF cup this year, I'd be so bold to claim that Randers have been farvorite all along, and KIF of CWC if it wasn't because of the CL teams (and maybe Lada)).

In general these clubs (who resist this) are the clubs that win their own league year after year, which is a problem as well, in my opinion, because it's just like the denmark vs. europe problem, except it is more isolated.

Except for more focus on talent development, I honestly don't know how to fix this problem, which I think is more easy to see in a game like handball, than soccer, because soccer is more popular (meaning the stream of players coming into the sport increases fast enough). Heck even setting a maximum amount of players, or setting a maximum wage, probably will do more harm than good.

What I'd like, is that the reseach taxes cut off didn't apply for athletes, but hen again, it's only a minor part of the unfair advantage of being able to buy the very best (and of course the players want to play for the best clubs (and in general with the highest wage) who can blame them for that?), because as I think the game in general is more popular in Denmark, it's easier to gain access to more money than foreign clubs. The only thing foreign clubs can do, unless getting more focus on the sport, is developing talents, but honestly, I think that's what they've always done. :-k

Hmm, would it be unfair, if there was a maximum wage of players not used in the first team, (X amount of minutes played pr. season) to prevent the rich teams to buy the best players, just to have lots of players setting on the bench who in principe could be playing well for another team?

I don't think anyone is trying to hide that - the clubs say themselves that money problems have forced them to invest in developing players (Randers have been very outspoken about this) and also to realize that people want to see at least some danish NT profiles when they go to a match in the danish league along with the best of the foreign players of course. Not everyone follow club matches in general, so they want to see someone they know and the real pitty is that most clubs didn't admit that till they got in trouble.

The nationality thing is part of it, I believe. Many danes don't want to watch club handball if the national team isn't doing well. That's been obvious for years. But I agree the teams need to develop their own players, but all in all I think it's starting to go in the right direction: both FCM and Aalborg (besides Randers) are developing their own players too, as well as investing in the young talents of the homeleague.
As to your suggestion, yes that would perhaps be a solution, we don't want another "Troelsen" situation, but I doubt the players organisation would ever agree to that...

Hope that Randers will win the Cup. I wouldn't say any more about this match. European Cups are disgusting.

I hope Randers wins too. At least we could say that we were defeated by the team that eventually won the cup.

The match is updated on Radio Alfa. Just google it ;)

Elda - Randers HK 11-14 at halftime. Randers had 14-9, but Elda scored twice in the last 30 seconds.. stupid stupid. But still a good result for Randers. Any comments about the match from anyone seeing it? Hopefully the Danish girls + Wörz, Masson and Medeiros will keep up the good work in second half.

Disastrous second half from Randers. Elda marked Fruelund out and the Danish attack was killed = only 6 goals in 30 minutes.. Lots and lots of shots hit the post. The final is still very open now. Perhaps 55-45 in advantage for Randers.

BTW, I´ve always wondered why Soit is so good for Elda and so horrible for the Romanian NT??

What a Brazilian atmosphere in Elda!

I only saw the last 15 minutes, but still - a good result for Randers.

Very bad female referees in both the finals. Today they helped Randers quite a lot, I must admit. That said, Randers is IMO the better of the teams, but they underperformed in both matches. Oana Soit once again was brilliant and played very smart - she was the Spanish attack. Every time Randers got a 6-8 goal lead, Elda came back, but in the end it was Berit Kristensen who scored two very decisive goals and closed the match. Wörz and Fruelund best in offense, whilst Medeiros was fantastic in defense. Dalby was very bad today..

Randers HL - Orsan Elda Prestigio 30-24(14-12)
Ran: Katrine Fruelund 7(4/4), Nina Wörz 7, Maria Fisker 3, Mie Augustesen 3, Berit Kristensen 3, Alessandra Medeiros 3, Camilla Dalby 3(1/1), and Tatiana Silitch 1
Elda: Oana Soit 10(4/4), Silvana Ilic 4, Asensi Vidal 3, Marija Popovic 2, Beatrice Camunas 2, Vanessa Amoros Quiles 1, Viviana Jacques 1 and Ana Paula Rodrigues 1

Congratulations to Randers =D> They have done very well this season :D

It may have been bad refs and Randers seemed nervous but when they played well they were far better than Elda 8:)

Dalby however really needs to work on those nerves of hers - she thinks way too
