Tadici after C.S. Oltchim Rm. Vâlcea - HC Zalau 35-26 (19-11):

"We have tried to put up a fight against Oltchim in order to help with their preparation for Buxtehuder and the World Championships ( ), but also to make Mr. Voina understand that our League is not as weak as he claims and that there are good players outside Oltchim". (http://www.handbalvolei.ro)

Besides his underlying irony, exaggeration and will to make Voina look bad in any situation, he speaks the truth: THERE ARE players in Romania that can develop and form a competitive national team from now on. He gave an interview to Digisport right after Voina, before the match, mocking him for never having worked on talent development and team building. Nonetheless, keep in mind that Tadici has his very personal interests to serve through such statements.

I wrote about Klimek and Buceschi, but I forgot to mention that Nicoleta Dincă (U Jolidon Cluj) is out for about a month because of a thumb injury during practice.

HC Zalău - ”U” Jolidon Cluj 23-20 (11-11)

One of worst matches in the history of handball, with absolutely disgusting, repulsive refereeing in pure Tadici style.

This is how theft looks in handball:

HC Zalău (23):
Nichita, Cheța; Ciuciulete 7, Băbeanu 4, Molfea 4, Trif 3, Beșe 2, Rob 1, Cârstoaica 1, Țurcaș 1.
Suspensions: 3 x 2 min
7m: 10 awarded, 3 scored.
Coach: Gheorghe Tadici

U Jolidon Cluj (20):
Petroczi; Chintoan 6, Senocico 5, Stoian 3, Paraschiv 2, Tivadar 2, Mihai 1, Oltean 1.
Suspensions: 7 x 2 min.
7m: 1 awarded, 1 scored.
Coach: Gheorghe Covaciu

Who played handball knows what I'm talking about. Who played handball in Romania knows even better what this is like.

Critical situation in Oțelul Galați, the team is apparently on the brink of falling apart.

6 players have written up memos to the federation asking to be declared free agents (Alina Branişte Horjea - team top scorer, goalkeepers Ionica Munteanu and Cristina Bobeică, LP Manuela Rădulescu, PM Paula Pavăl and back player Renata Tătăran Ghionea).

Possible future destinations:

Alina Branişte Horjea – Dunărea Brăila / CSM Bacău
Manuela Rădulescu – CSM Bacău
Renata Ghionea – CSU Neptun Constanţa
Ionica Munteanu – "U” Jolidon Cluj
Paula Pavăl – CSM Bacău
Cristina Bobeică – CSM Bacău

Such budget, such performances. The sport in general is not considered a priority in our country.

Corona Brasov (former Rulmentul) - Oltchim 31:35
Bradeanu and Managarova (again!!) kept ORV in the lead, the victory was secured in the dying minutes with the help of some extra fastbreaks.

=D> for the young supergirls of Brasov. Zamfir has developed and is now an ok intermediate defender. Her offensive skills are a joy to watch. Andreea Pricopi is our Amanda Kurtovic, explosive, versatile, young (17y). I am very happy after matches like this when I get the feeling the NT has a future. Chiper managed to piss off Dinu with her penalty shooting. 8:)

Corona Brasov - HC Zalau 22:22 (11:9)
ASC Corona Brasov: Burghel 6, Sorodoc 5, Chiper 3, Pop 2, Zamfir 2, Hotea 2, Din 1, Pricopi 1.
HC Zalau: Molfea 8, Rob 4, Czeczi 4, Ciuciulete 4, Trif 1, Bese 1.
Eliminari: Burghel, Sorodoc, Din, Pricopi / Ailincai, Bese, Czeczi (2), Szucs (2).
Aruncari de la 7m: 4 transformate / 8 acordate - 5 transformate / 7 acordate. (according to handbalvolei)

My nerves! What a clash!

Cristina Zamfir got a knee injury in the first minutes of the game. She will probably miss out on the TQO in Lyon. It was a big disappointment for Mariana Tarca who kept comforting her on the bench, during the game. She has invested a lot of training in Zamfir with great results. I printed an image of the two, at the end of the game.

There was a bit of everything in this game: an infortunate injury, a GK's red card, yellow cards for both coaches, great saves, an equalization penalty after the final buzzer and overall, very tough defenses. Corona Brasov played with 5:1 and 4:2 defense, a killer for Zalau's offensive play. Today, it was not Pricopi's game, but Dedu's, who took over Guiu in great style and kept her team in the game at some crucial moments. Veterans Camelia Balint and Alina Sorodoc were Brasov's salvation in attack after Zamfir's injury.

In Zalau, the best players were Molfea (RB) and Nichita (GK). It was clear from the start Molfea would be the only one breaking through the defense, whereas Bese or Szucs would remain a bit stiff. Battling performance from pivot Ciuciulete.

Zalau finished with 4 defenders during Brasov's last attack which led to a penalty and a goal :). Tarca couldn't even watch that last one.

Thanks for the report, AJ :) I was certain it would be a tough battle between those 2, I'm really bummed I couldn't get to watch it live. Hopefully Cristina Zamfir's injury will turn out to be less serious than predicted, I'm just so tired of seeing these girls suffering. Does anyone by any chance have a recording of the match?

In another far less impressive clash of the round "U" Jolidon Cluj won against HCM Baia Mare 37-24 (19-8). The basic impression I have after this match is that, as we say, the devil isn't all that black in Romanian handball :) Both Baia Mare and Cluj used their youngsters and they did pretty well -- Baia Mare mostly because they don't really have so many experienced players, but still. There are some nice prospects in these teams, I think we'll be able to fully rely on players such as Pârvuț, Puiu (Buceschi too) from BM and Ivan, Florea, Măzăreanu from Cluj. Too bad Măză will be leaving at the end of the season. I just hope Pârvuț manages to stay healthy considering her ”a la Vizitiu” playing style.

Big thumbs up for the kiddos :)

L.E. : a little update on the Brasov - Zalau match, in Tadici fashion ;) http://handbalvolei.ro/index.php/handba ... e-la-braov

Some very bad news for Cristina Zamfir, Corona Brasov and (possibly) the NT: her injury in the match against Zalau is as bad as it looked (collateral ligament tear). They're hoping she will be ready for the start of next season.
