The Danish Team for the 2009 WC was selected today (well 17 player was selected so one has to go): http://dhf.dk/composite-3243.htm

Keepers:
Kasper Hvidt (FC Barcelona)
Niklas Landin (GOG)
[Peter Henriksen (also GOG) decided to retire from the NT after the OG]

Left Wings:
Lars Christiansen (Flensburg Handewitt)
Anders Eggert (Skjern - on loan from Felnsburg Handewitt)
[The usual 2nd choice Lars Rasmussen (Team Tvis Holstebro sems to have been passed by both Anders Eggert and Anders Toudahl (BSV) who was not selected either]

Left backs:
Bo Spellerberg (KIF Kolding)
Mikkel Hansen (FC Barcelona)

Playmakers:
Jesper Jensen (Skjern)
Thomas Mogensen (Flensburg Handewitt)
[Joachim Boldsen (FC Barcelona) decided to retire from the NT after the OG]

Left handed right back:
Kasper Søndergaard (KIF Kolding)

Right handed right/left backs:
Lasse Boesen (Flensburg Handewitt)
Mads Nielsen (BSV)
[This is Mads' debut at a big tournament, he played a great preperation tournament and is a good defender too) The usual central defender Kasper "Popeye" Nielsen has been plauged by injuries lately and has been left out, this has made the choice of Mads Nielsen more obvious as he can also play in both ends]

Right wings:
Hans Lindberg (HSV Hamburg)
Lasse Svan Hansen (Flensburg-Handewitt)

Pivots:
Michael Knudsen (Flensburg-Handewitt)
Jesper Nøddesbo (FC Barcelona)
Torsten Laen (Ciudad Real)

Defender:
Lars Jørgensen
[Denmark's best defender, hardly ever used in attack altough he can play back too - or even stad in as pivot if the team neesa that]

--------------------------
Stand in players:
Defender/back Kasper Nielsen (GOG)
Right back/playmaker Klavs Hørlykke Bruun Jørgensen (FCK)
[These two players has been asked to stay in shape during the WC in case a player from the squad gets injured]

Unfortunately - no. He decided to finish his NT career, which I can't understand, but that's the fact...

Simple answer: He is not good enough - He is just an average line player, no big quality compared to other players.

I'm curious how France will do without Bertrand Gille. Who will be the replacement? Are Kempe or Detrez good enough? How about Sorhaindo? (Actually I don't know much about them...)

I would assess that Sorhaindo has probably now established himself as the number 2 circle. He's either leading the French league in scoring or he is near the top with 75 goals in 13 games. He really should have made the Olympic team instead of Kempe, who's never impressed me. I don't know much about Detrez. While Sorhaindo should be effective on offense, he's nowhere near the Defensive player that Gille. And that is where France will miss Gille most-- on defense.

The comeback of Romania after 14 years :D
The couch Aihan announced the list of the players
The Romanian Steaua used to be on the very top of world handball. Vasile Stinga was the most famous player, a best world player, and it was a real fun watching Romanian play.
After that they kind of disappeared from the European and the world stage. In the lat few years the Romanian Resita announced their comeback, after winning twice the Challenge Cup. Romanians will perform in the World Championship in Croatia and the couch Aihan chose the following players:

Goalkeepers: Stanescu, Popescu and Barza

Wings: Timofte, Buricea, Ciubotoraiu, Toma, Georgescu, Ghionea

Pivots: Cozma, Irimescu and Paraianu

Backs: Sania, Cspreghi, Petrea, Iacob, Stavrosita, Jurca, Adomnicai, Rohazneanu and Fenici.

The leading players of the Rumanian national team are: the former Zagreb's player, Jurca, who plays for Goppingen, Sania and the goalkeeper Stanescu.

First, his nick is "meteo"...

Brand wants to give a chance to younger players from Bundesliga...

I think that his decision is bad, because Zeitz, Fritz and Kehrmann mean a lot to every team :!:

Zeitz is only an average player and one of the most stupids handballers, Fritz is too old and Bitter,Lichtlein are now better than he...
