Day 1 - previews Ana Djokic (handball123.com expert - Buducnost T-mobile player)General view of the Championship:I think that in general the quality of handball has felt down compared to the previous 5-10 years.
Of course Russia will always have the quality to win a medal, even with younger players or if they change the roster of the team each year.
Norway is here too, in the recent years they didn’t go home without a medal. Hungary has also made a lot’s of changes in the team. Lot’s of young players at the moment are playing for the national team.
I also expect to see Romania along the first 4 teams and in this Championship. That’s about it for European teams… As for the others national teams China as the host team, with support from the spectators, will be a serious opponent to all the other teams, as well as Japan and Korea ( Teams that in the past 10 years has show better and better performance).
Of course the ball is round, all sorts of surprises are possible, but in general this is my opinion before the start ..... we'll see, maybe some teams will surprise me, and change my mind
In any case I am ready for a good handball!!! Tomorrow games:I think that the most interesting game will be between Germany & Denmark.
Russia & Ukraine are old acquaintances, (favorite team to win this game is of course Russia)
Romania – Chile (Romania will try to finish the job with a solid defense
Norway-Japan (there will be a lot of running, both teams are fast, and will focus on fast brakes )
Spain - Côte d'Ivoire (I’m interested how will Spain play tomorrow because they are always an awkward opponent)Olga Chernoivanenko (handball123.com expert - Lada Togliatty player)
Russia – Ukraine: Well about this game between Russia & Ukraine I consider that Russia is a clear favorite in this match, but still the team of Ukraine is not a bad team at all, in any case they will give a fight until the end , let’s just remember the fact that they won the bronze medal at the Olympics games in 2004.Germany – Denmark I think that this will be the most interesting match of the first day at the World Championship competition.
Both national teams have made changes in their rosters, so it is very hard to decide which of the teams that will win this game. I would say that both teams have a equal chance to win this match.Ruta Latakaite – Lithuanian national team playerGermany- DenmarkAlthough Denmark lost one very important player – Lærke Møller, I still think that they have bigger chances to win this game, because Germany misses their best players at this WC, and the players that currently are playing are new and mostly young.
