They won't. Anyway I'm very curious how the lineup will be built-up this time, there are indicia it could be little bit...call it 'strange'...in some way

Since Slovenia is probably the best 3rd team, we can predict pots also :
EURO 2016 Draw
1 - NOR, NED, SWE, MNE
2 - FRA, HUN, RUS, SRB
3 - ESP, DEN, ROU, GER
4 - POL, CRO, CZE, SLO
EURO 2016 Draw

2 - FRA, HUN, RUS, SRB
3 - ESP, DEN, ROU, GER
4 - POL, CRO, CZE, SLO

Well, it is strange indeed:
Kalinina, Trusova - Atkova, Bobrovnikova, Chernoivanenko, Dmitrieva, Ilina, Kozhokar, Makeeva, Postnova, Sen, Suslova, Vyakhireva, V. Zhilinskaite.

I think last two pots should look like:
3 - ESP, ROU, GER, POL
4 - CRO, DEN, CZE, SLO
L. Hutupan-Dinu, V. Ardean-Elisei, Cristina Neagu, O. Manea, I. Stanca, M. Jovanovic, Y. Ozel, R. Maier.

Re: 2016 Women's EURO (SWE) – Qualification
Because Romania was second in qualification group, and 9th on last Euro..
Netherlands took Spain's place, Serbia was first in the quali group and Russia took Denmark's place. Winners of quali groups are in pots 1 and 2 the placement on last Euro decides your rating and based on that you're allocated to a cetrain pot.

Why will three groups be played in Scania? Couldn't they have spreaded it around a bit?

Re: 2016 Women's EURO (SWE) – Qualification
It makes sense, still it looks a bit silly that everything will be played in a 50 km radius.
I'd have thought the Norwegian group would be somewhat closer to the border, but then again, Gothenburg will be hosting the main round and I don't know if Borås for example has an adequate arena.

Re: 2016 Women's EURO (SWE) – Qualification
I just hope the lack of people from Sweden won't be a problem! Euro '06 wasn't that well attended, from what I remember. OTOH, their women's NT has improved leaps and bounds since then, but I still feel the interest in women's handball there could be bigger.

Re: 2016 Women's EURO (SWE) – Qualification
Wch last December : Denmark
Olympic Games qualification tournament : Denmark
This year's Euro : Sweden.
So Europe only gets the U20 Wch? Looks like IHF forgot that they can also choose European countries, because not only Scandinavia has infrastructure and big halls.

Re: 2016 Women's EURO (SWE) – Qualification
In absolute honesty, these event probably just lose money for the hosts. And with the current state of European economy, I doubt too many countries would be thrilled to take upon such a task.
It will be France '18 and *drumrolls* Denmark/Norway '20. After that, I'm pretty sure it will be Hungary.
But maybe they can host it together with Romania.

skorobo....frolova and golikhova another typical great first line in russia youth teams.
I saw the game too. The Portuguese keeper was even better than Trusova. And Ryabtseva is a very good keeper, so I'm not so sure about that hypothetical Portuguese win![]()
And I agree, Skorobogatchenko, Frolova, Golikova all have potential to become great players.
No,Trusova made the difference in the first half.

Portugal is in the euro 2008,finaly!!!!!

Would there be people on other games than Romania if they were to stage European or World Championships? Would people turn up and pay tickets in Russia for a women´s handball game between Korea and Spain? Anyway, they will alternate this again, next one up may be Hungary or another central European country.
Romanians are at least as into handball as the nordics, and this can be seen anytime we have big names and not only in our country, if that's what you meant ( Baia Mare Champions Trophy in 2014, Bucharest Trophy in 2015 and the F4's of the Romanian Cup, except this last one which was a failure, and all the important CL games etc). I guess the crowd won't be too full to see Angola vs Ukraine or so, but Denmark or Sweden won't fill it neither.

I really doubt the co-hosting, I think the km differences between the cities in Hungary where it would be organized and those in Romania would be pretty big, because in our region you can only count maybe Baia Mare and Cluj (+400 km away from Budapest), not to mention Bucharest or the others. But it would have to be taken into consideration by some bigger autorities. Still Hungary got the EHF F4 these last years, so why not give Romania a shot at something...and if we will fail, then consider our mouths shut for a long period of time. I'm so subjective

I think you nailed it there, because the handball interest in Sweden is vastly in Skåne and not so much in the big cities and very uneven spread.

You're welcome.
No, WCh results don't matter. Only results from previous EC and of course qualifications.
