The TV rights for Iceland were sold, but it may still work in Iceland regardless.

Someone tell the organizers please that the music they play through 50% of the matchtime is awful and disrespectful.
I do not want disco. I want handball.

BTW our team played a great game, hopinng for quick recovery of Blanka Bíró.

Just curious, why was it disrespectful?

They don't care about the game, the teams, the tv spectators all around the world, anyone who doesn't like this kind of music but forced to listen it, etc.

Like the music was equally important factor of the entertainment as handball itself.

Well, I don't really care about the music when I'm at games. I remember when Hungary was playing in Novi Sad, after their goals they played "az a szep" and for the Russians "kalinka" but the rest of it was what people call balkan music or some international hits.

It'1s OK right after a goal, for about 5 seconds.
It's completely different when you are at attack, and the music is still ON, for about 20 seconds.

Just switch off the sound, Marco Aurelio. By the way, todays judgees were really strange (for both teams). :D

I was cheering for S.Korea, but that was a great buzzer-beater by Nascimento.

Do you guys know of any website (local tv or whatever) with video highlights from ALL the games?

I loved the real opener of the Championships, RUS- NOR. Romania won't stand a chance against them.

Russia could be even better, but Trefilov doesn't let it happen :D, he keeps his old style no matter what. I think he could learn some moves from last year's Dinamo or from Rostov, crossings for example. Also, his mixing of the players is a bit strange. Levina-Ilina and Bobrovnikova-Dmitrieva, when it should be the other way around, according to club affinities.

Norway was better than I had expected. It will be interesting to see how they will evolve, will their defence grow stronger or will they become tired? Oftedal was left to defend, so the right side is definitely a weak spot that could be exploited, Geiger should do something there.

With Trefilov coaching i will be happy already with the pre olimpic qualification.

how many teams qualified?10?

it was not the best of the games yesterday,Kochetova is missed.
Portugal is in the euro 2008,finaly!!!!!

It depends on what teams will get in the Top 8 and how they finish there.

Already in Rio:
Brazil (organizer), Norway (European), S.Korea (Asian), Angola (African), Argentina (S.American).
Theoretically if all these teams above enter in the Top 8 without winning the event or without being runners up behind Brazil, then even the 12th spot of this Word Championships can grant a valid ticket to the qualification tournaments.
If none of them are present in the Top 8, then the 7th spot of the Wch is the last valid ticket.
The situation is the same when the one that enters wins the event and the continental 2nd is not present in the Top 8. (Like Norway gets in the Top 8, but wins the event, and Spain is not in the Top 8). Still the 7th place is the last good one then.
The odds say I believe that getting in the Top 8 gives you the qualification for the March Tournament, but the 9th spot can be also valuable.

Determination of places 9-16
a) number of points gained against the teams ranked 1st-4th in the preliminary round in their group;
b) if two or more teams have gained the same number of points the goal difference in the games mentioned under a) is decisive for the classification;
c) if two or more teams have gained the same number of points as well as the same goal difference in the games mentioned under a) a decision on the classification is made based on the greater number of plus goals in these games;
d) if two or more teams have gained the same number of points, the same goal difference and the same number of plus goals in the games mentioned under a) the classification of these teams is decided on the final ranking of the best teams, i.e. a team which played in the preliminary round group of the later World Champion will be ranked ahead of a team which played in the PR group of the runner-up. If the World Champion and the runner-up were in the same PR group, the team which achieved the better result against the World Champion will be better ranked.

Anicia, we all know you`re a fan of the Hungarians, such a pity actually.

I only watched the first half of that game, and it was full of mistakes. Norway was way poorer than usually.

with such play, none of these two will play the final.

NORWAY-RUSSIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGIt33DmhlU

great win for Russia, congrat!

PS. I liked Kuznecova and Ilina is improving!

I think France will take the gold. If Norway wins again then I question what kind of level international female handball is on. Nora Mørk is a disaster for any team

1. France
2. Russia

RUS - ESP by far the best match so far.

Consider that RUSSIA have 10/14 same players compared to last year, small changes have done big changes in results. They have now beated both gold and silver winners from last championship. Only Romania who can take them away from being group winners.
GROUP C & D are sooo much stronger then A & B so far. #-o
And the Norwegian commentators loves Ilina, Bliznova and Vyakhireva :)

Russia-Spain 28-26

Bliznova Mvp.

let's see what Romania will do against spain and norway but russia might had secure the firs place today.

Sucks russia have no pivot and miss also a second keeper, the backcourt is very good, they have two lines even without kochetova.

the defense could be better but they are no perfect teams.

Russia could have to squads in this world championship and done well both teams. A good quality team "Russia 2" could be:

GK: Suslina, Gabisova, Basarab
LW: Kiseleva, Gorshkova
RW: Uskova, Yartseva, Sukhanova
LP: M. Petrova, E. Petrova, Stepanova
LB: Gorshenina, Garanina, Zhilinskayte
RB: Davydenko, Punko
PM: Kochetova, Shymkute, Koroleva

Took me around 3-4 min to find (think) these quality players. And this is 19 players, and so even 3 had to be left home even here. I guess Suslina have said no to NT this years, and Kochetova and Garanina are injured, but just to set the quality of Russian players in perspective.

Ikhneva did wrong to move so young to macedonia.
And you forget both Ukrainian Rostov wingers who might play soon for russia.

Anyway let's not dream too much.

Before the tournament i was happy with a top 8 finnish, now i will say a top 4 is quite possible.

Likey Denmark or Hungary in the last 8,so anything can happen.

Managarova would be a huge upgrade for any team. I read somewhere that 2017 is the earliest date she can play for Russia, is it true?
