And Hypo 25 - 21 Bera Bera, a small surprise, maybe just for me.

For me not, as Bera Bera has a young squad now, experienced players retired and Hypo still has Acimovic and Olga Sanko in the goal, who saved pretty good against the Spaniards. Also, Hypo`s new Danish pivot shined in the first half.

They will have a very tough match against Leipzig tomorrow though, I clearly see the Germans as favourites.

Hypo was favorite for me.They don't have so bad squad this season.Acimovic is great player, but I think that Braneau can help them a lot,if the coach put her in the first back line with Acimovic. She had some great moments in Florey last season.

Congrats to Leipzig! Very close game, too bad for Hypo & Acimovic. Acimovic was brilliant, 14 goals =D>

Hey folks, Hypo has lost with bad luck imo. They have been the better team, just got weaker in the finish. I wish them good luck in the EHF Cup now.

Not that Adzić staying or leaving the Motenegro National Team has anything to do with Neagu staying or leaving Budućnost.

Does anyone have information why there are changes in the timetable in the Group B? Is that official? Leipzig will play the first 3 matches away, and the last 3 at home. This is a big concession so why is EHF allowing that (of course if it is official as it is shown on www.ehfcl.com)

Because there are other events taking place on those dates at the hall they play. Leipzig asked Vardar and FTC if they could swap the home/away matches and they both agreed.
idle banter.

I made some comparisons post on post for the best 5 teams that I consider among favorites to F4 (CSM București, Gyor, Vardar, Buducnost and Rostov). Keep in mind it is subjective and your opinion may probably be different than mine :)

    Goalkeepers

    Leynaud/Pessoa ≥
    Ungureanu/Grubisic ≥
    Grimsbo >
    Zoqbi/Zderic >
    Lunde
    • too bad Grimsbo doesn't have a decent backup •

    Left wings

    Mehmedovic ≥
    Herrem >
    Dembele >
    Pavicevic >
    Korsos

    Right wings

    Radicevic ≥
    Martin >
    Managarova >
    Irman = Knedlikova

    Line players

    Loke >
    Cvijic >
    Manea/Lobach >
    Althaus >
    Petrova

    Center backs

    Gullden >
    Groot ≥
    Rodrigues >
    Lekic ≥
    Raicevic

    Left backs

    Neagu >
    Penezic >
    Amorim >
    Torstenson/Niombla ≥
    Barbosa

    Right backs

    Mork >
    Bulatovic ≥
    Lacrabere >
    Vyakhireva >
    Jorgensen/Ayglon

Now can the season start already? I am anxious :D

If you really like surprises, you shouldn't cheer for Gyor.
Savehof would be a better choice. :p

Isn't Makeeva back at full speed in Rostov ?
And yes I agree that Knedlikova is first choice in ETO and she is getting better imo, but the wingers in ETO are still their week spot I think (+ Grimsbø not getting injuried). :-k

I know Gyor wouldn't be a surprise but I like them. Well, these 4 teams as the final 4 would be a surprise. You know you don't get rich when you always bet on the favortites. ;) Savehof, why not?
PS Last year nobody thought Bucuresti would win it but they did...

I hope I am wrong, I mean it will not be the final outcome, but Rostov got strengthened the most. In terms of squad in my opinion:

1. Gyor
2. Rostov
3. Bucharest
4. Vardar (Vardar is also better with Lacrabere and Pessoa, but Herrem doesn`t present confidence and there are too many goalies; maybe they will do better with a good coach and a non-injured Khmyrova)
5. Buducnost
6. Larvik

I didnt put them in quality order or in the way they will end the season, these 5 teams I see as Final 4 candidates. I wouldnt include Larvik, but maybe a surprise from the scandinavian teams of Esbjerg or Glassverket might happen instead of Larvik. If Larvik WITH Nora didnt manage to pass the Qfs, a Larvik without her wont even reach that stage. And maybe FTC will also get to squeeze into the quarters again.

Actually, I am more scared about Rostov this year than Gyor. We shouldnt have let them get AP Rodriguez. Now that Line will be out for months, we would have used her crazy game in RB.
Also Vardar is better this year. In a top of 3 "fearful" opponents Id have Vardar,Rostov and Gyor. Buducnost is still a compact team but...Eh, we'll see.

I have not checked the rosters of the new teams (Metz,Leipzig,Astrakhanochka) but maybe they will put up a good fight with the other teams. I cant wait for this CL season to start :D

IMO there are two questions for this season until May:
1. Is there any surprise team to beat any of the above mentioned first 5 teams? (as a Hungarian, I hope, it will be FTC :-))
2. Which of these first 5 teams will miss f4? Because it would be a huge disappointment

Rodrigues is the best playmaker in the world after Pineau. With Gullden probably. Considering Anita is kinda out of 100% activity. They also got Barbosa. But Russians are Russians. The EHF overrated them big last season. But this season the squad is indeed better. But it`s Russia, I would not trust them.

Line Joergensen injured, no? We are doomed if Jakob is not doing his magics. On the road in the national league he was totally outplayed by Buceschi. I don`t like a lot our squad. Lobach, Ayglon, we have many uncertainties.

Glassverket suck, Dy. Trust me! Like Leipzig. Astrakhanochka could only be dangerous on home field. Team Esbjerg are quality in comparison with the Norway`s 2nd. Maybe even over FCM.

Well, considering Line is out and after what Ive seen today against the younger team of Cluj, I really am not optimistic for CSM, especially considering our hell of a group. And since the first game is against Rostov it will be essential for our moral and for being Europe's Champion to win it, plus its a Home game.

Look, today Lobach and Ayglon were pretty good, and Torstenson is suddenly shooting like a beast from 9m. Linnea really surprised me today, hope she will do so vs. Rostov too :D Ayglon was also scoring from RW, Lobach is better than I thought, actually I like her.

I believe our advantage is the defense: we have Torstenson,Ayglon,Lobach,Mica,Bella + Carmen and Majda who are little beasts in defense..and of course the brilliant Paula and Gruba in goal. If we will keep a solid, aggressive defense, we will have easier job. Though, what concerns me the most is our attack...somehow, Niombla and Ayglon dont have that much courage to shoot from distance. And overall, the attack doesnt seem to be "glued" among the players..Vestergaard must think every game considering the opponent and its plus and minus points vs. Ours and also have that TO magic, to shake things up during the heat of the game and surprise the other team.

I am excited for this season, but I fear ourselves a lot. Aggh, lets see what happens first on sunday..I hope the girls realize its EHF Champions f#cking League and we must defend the crown  :king:

Linnea is on a good track, Vestergaard is using her more in attack and the results are paying back. I hope Bella will be her wild self again and shine in CL :P

On RB I think we will try everything, but Id try Ayglon first for at least 15min. Then, put Bella on RB and Niombla center. Mica is also a third option for RB. Niombla didnt seem ok on the right.

I am curious to see AP Rodrigues play her first CL game for Rostov against Us...it will be a sour feel :(
