They both announced that they would retire.
In conclusion, I declare that EHF must be destroyed

Because it was a live broadcast. Match finished – broadcast removed.
Now Kuban - Ionias, full record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_NougjViFg

What should normally have been just another Euro cup match, seems that it actually was the last match of CSM Ploiești.
The team played with only 9 players in the Faroe Islands and with 7 yesterday at home.
They won both matches 26:24 over there and 31:20 last evening. Congratulations to the players and the staff!

What happens next? Nobody knows. The whole purpose was to avoid a forfeit, and the subsequent fine and suspension by the EHF, but now they're in exactly the same situation if they won't play against Mihalovce. The article above says they lost all their players after last evening's match and that nobody will be able to go to Roman for the NL match. This is both sad and disgusting and this is what usually happens when politics think they are entitled or obliged to get involved in sports.

It's done. CSM Ploiești withdrew from the EHF Cup today.

Let's see the consequences: whether Michalovce moves to the next round without playing or they'll re-include some lucky loser, what fine will the FRH receive and... who will pay the club's fine?

The club will pay the fine and not FRH. Plus they will receive a ban and won´t be able to participate in any European cups in the next few years.

It's... undone!
The club announced they will play against Brăila today and that they will continue their activity with both the female and male team.
Source: http://www.csmploiesti.ro/2016/09/21/ec ... v-divizia/

Their press release says nothing about the eurocups, nor the players' and coaches' salaries.

How do you fine a club that has theoretically ceased to exist? You've more chances to collect taxes from a dead man.

Well, a ban (not to enter any European cups) will be valid for the said period (to be determined by the EHF), it doesn´t matter if a club ceased to exist or not.

About the financial punishment, well, the club paid a certain amount to participate on the cup, this amount will be deducted from the fine the (ceased) club is supposed to pay. About the rest, the EHF will probably go on court to fight for it, will contact as well your local Federation or if the amount is too low and a hassle to look for it, well, then the EHF will loose this money. In my opinion. ;-)

Well, actually there isn´t, haha. At least not this year. Only "home and away" clashes. I think they will organise one in 2017/2018.

Location for EHF Final4 for men will be decided later this year, found out meanwhile. :-)

Haha, there is a big chance for that indeed, other option would be Göppingen, but if Füchse is in race at the end of the year, then I´m sure they´ll be the organisers...

I'm still stunned by the amount of "home" matches played away, why is this still possible? Some teams would really have a chance if they didn't play both legs at the other team. Most of the times the team with this advantage is already the stronger team. And there's not always a huge distance to travel. But no one seems to complain and discuss about this.

It really bothers me as well. If they can't afford it, then don't take part. And if they can't be bothered to travel to far away countries ( ) then they shouldn't bother taking part in a competition for an EUROPEAN Cup.
idle banter.

I don't even know how it works with the money. Some countries are far away but there were games between teams from closer countries, like Portugal and France. How hard could it be to travel between them? It's not like it's Kazakhstan.

Also, as I noted, most of the times the weaker (poorer?) team is the one that makes the travel to play both legs at the better team. So they DO BOTHER to spend two days and probably the other team DOES BOTHER to pay for it. Sounds very much like a conflict of interest enabled by the EHF.

I'm curious how people in handball see this, because I searched the Internet and couldn't find any discussions or remarks about this disturbing aspect. Everyone is very quiet. Why make so many competitions (3 or even 4 until recently), with access lists based on dubious and unsettled criteria, when so many teams can't or are not allowed to even chances.
