Not yet qualified national teams with alive possibility to qualify for the 2020 Olympics:

● all NTs qualified for the 2019 World Championship: ARG, AUS, CHN, CUB, COD, DEN, ESP, GER, HUN, KAZ, MNE, NED, NOR, ROU, RUS, SEN, SLO, SRB, SWE

For the moment:

AUS, CUB, COD, SLO already lost all the Olympic hopes.

KAZ can only hope for the PRK's non-appearance in the OQT. (KAZ are the first substitute.)


The rest (ARG, CHN, DEN, ESP, GER, HUN, MNE, NED, NOR, ROU, RUS, SRB, SWE) can still qualify for Tokyo 2020.

With Russia in semifinals, Romania is qualified for OQT thanks to (for now) their 4th place at the EURO 2018. They can still be qualified there via the WCh final placement as well, which takes priority in that case.

Spain sure for Top6 and that means they are sure for OQT at least. They still have a chance to qualify directly for the Olympics via winning the WCh.

Japan will not make Top8. Thus, it is sure that the 9th place won't give the last & very favourable WCh-earned OQT spot. It will belong to 7th or 8th place; the most probable outcome atm. is the 7th place (depends on KOR final placement).

It has been decided that NOR will not be host in OQT since the NOR men team will be host in their OQT. It certainly looks like ESP will be one of the hosts OQT for females. According to Marca.com
